Policy to support practice

print

An oral health policy outlines the organisation’s goals for oral health and what is expected of the service provider, staff, service users and their families in order to achieve these goals.

This oral health policy template outlines the key elements and you would expect to see in an oral health policy, and gives some examples.

This is a guide only and not intended to restrict or replace how an organisation would normally develop a policy.

Some services prefer to incorporate oral health within an existing policy, such as healthy eating or wellbeing, rather than having a stand-alone oral health policy.

It is recommended that any disability service provider seeking to improve oral health have an oral health policy.
